Oxenhope Gardening Club's special 25th anniversary year. For just £15 you get a season of stimulating evening talks by big names in gardening, and visits to iconic gardens in the summer months. Why not come and join us?

All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30 pm in Oxenhope Community Centre.

Admission, unless otherwise noted, is £3 for non members, members free. Membership is £15 per year.

David is Chairman of the National Vegetable Society.
17th March Tom Hart Dyke Update from Lullingstone Castle
Tom is the first of Oxenhope Gardening Club's keynote speakers for 2016.
He is an English horticulturist, author and plant hunter and the designer of the World Garden of Plants located at Lullingstone Castle in Kent.
There will be an admission charge of £10 for non members at this evenings talk.
There will be a special March Raffle Prize, a £25 gift voucher for Dove Cottage, to celebrate Oxenhope Gardening Club's 25th anniversary.
21st April Mike Cunningham A fresh look at dahlias
Mike is from Keighley Horticultural Society and organises the entries for the annual Keighley Show.

19th May

  Plant sale. Bring plants, cakes, money and yourselves to raise funds for your club.
18th June (Saturday)   Coach trip to Bluebell Cottage (Sue Beesley's garden in Cheshire) and Arley Hall.
Coach leaves 9.00 am. prompt, returning to Oxenhope by about 6.00 pm.
Please remember to bring your RHS membership cards, mobile phones and admission money - see below (correct change if possible).
The coach will leave Oxenhope Station Car Park at 9 am (please be there by 8.45 am to ensure a prompt start) arriving at Bluebell Cottage at about 10.30 am where you will have about 2 hours to explore the gardens.
Lunch will follow at Arley Hall where home cooking will be available in the restaurant but bring your own packed lunch if you want longer in the gardens.
After the garden visit the coach will leave Arley Hall at 4.30 pm arriving back at Oxenhope at about 6 pm.
Note the £12 is to cover the cost of the coach and does not include admission to the gardens. Bluebell Cottage admission (including hot or cold drinks, biscuit or cake) £6.00 or £3.00 for RHS members. Arley Hall admission £6.00
A few seats remain on the coach. If you know anyone else who would like to join us, please contact a committee member as soon as possible.
23rd July (Saturday)  

Open garden at Lower Scholes Farm, Pickles Hill, Oakworth, BD22 0RR. Map here.

Please park near the junction of Hob Cote Lane and Scholes Lane. The garden is a 5 minute walk down Scholes Lane. Parking at the garden is very restricted but lifts can be arranged.
Admission is £5 including tea or coffee and cake; raising funds for Oxenhope Gardening Club.

15th September Anna Pavord
Tulips in the garden
Anna is the second of Oxenhope Gardening Club's keynote speakers for 2016.
She is the gardening correspondent for The Independent and the widely praised author of a number of books on plants and gardening. She confesses to spending more on bulbs than on clothes.

20th October Timothy Walker Plants of Tenerife – Go where Darwin did not
Timothy is a lecturer in Plant Sciences at Somerville College Oxford

He has given more than 1,500 talks in Britain, Ireland, North America, and Australia and we asked him back to the Oxenhope Gardening Club because we enjoyed his learned content delivered in such an entertaining way.

17th November Kevin Pratt “Don’t go to sleep during winter.”

Kevin has been a garden speaker for over thirty years and gives around 50 talks a year.
A self-employed hands-on gardener for 35 years, he has two RHS gold medals and a gold medal from Southport show. Kevin has written articles and a book called The gardener’s guide to Fritillaries. He has held two national collections: Fritillaria and Eucomis.

We invite Kevin back to talk about winter plant colour. Find out what you can be doing in winter and where to visit to see colour. Advice, plants and preparation.

He will bring rare and unusual plants for sale.
